Seed
Every chicken starts as a seed — a random string created the moment its egg is laid. The seed is the chicken's complete source code.
DNA roll
The seed is hashed into a deterministic random stream. The same seed rolls the same numbers every time, on every device, forever.
25 genes
Each of the 25 gene loci picks a weighted value — common alleles roll often, rare alleles roll rarely. ~35% of loci also carry a hidden recessive allele.
Render
The renderer draws exactly what the genes say — body, feathers, comb, eyes, tail, markings, accessories, mutations. No two seeds look alike.
Deterministic means checkable. A chicken is not a picture we uploaded and counted — it is the output of math anyone can re-run. The verifier at the bottom of this page computes any seed with the same librarythe game uses at hatch. If a seed made a mythic, the math says so — and if it didn't, no marketing can pretend otherwise.
The gene catalogue
All 25loci and every allele they can express. Values are sorted from most common (left) to rarest (right, gold) — the weights are the real ones the hatch roll uses. Rarer alleles add more “surprise bits” to a chicken's rarity score.
Rarity, measured honestly
Every gene contributes the information-theoretic surprise of its allele: −log₂ of the chance that locus had of rolling it. A totally predictable allele adds almost nothing; a one-in-a-hundred allele adds ~6.6 bits. Sum them across all 25 loci and you get a chicken's rarity score in bits — and the odds of that exact genome existing in the wild (shown as 1 in N on every chicken page).
Egg tier shifts the odds before a chicken is even born: a standard egg is one roll, premium keeps the best of three rolls, and golden guarantees at least Rare — plus the exclusive royal model pool.
Hidden alleles & breeding
Hidden alleles
About 35% of a chicken's loci carry a second, hidden allele — a recessive that does not show but can resurface generations later when you breed. A plain-looking hen can be carrying a gene her great-grandchick finally expresses.
Sex & lineage
Sex rolls 50/50 from the seed. Egg tier stamps a visual lineage into the DNA — golden eggs draw from the royal pool, premium from exotic — and breeding passes the stronger parent's lineage on.
Nest luck
Fed birds earn hearts (up to 3 each). The combined affection of both parents biases the hatch roll toward rarer alleles, locus by locus. Daily care is the skill layer: attentive breeders hatch better birds from the same seeds.
The Golden One
Exactly one seed in 1,000,000 is The Golden One — a hard rule in code, not a promo. It is always a rooster, it always looks the way the seed dictates, and anyone can verify a claim by running the seed through the verifier below.
What collectors look for
- Rare alleles — any expressed gene below ~10% odds shows as a gold star on the chicken page. Stacked rares climb the tiers fast.
- Mutations — only 8% of chickens carry one; galaxy, the rarest, is a 1-in-500 roll.
- Royal & exotic lineage — exclusive model pools that only golden and premium eggs can start.
- Hidden-allele depth — breeders pay for birds whose hidden alleles might unlock a combination two generations out.
- Hearts — a ❤️❤️❤️ breeding pair hatches luckier nests than any shop egg.
